Jennie Allen is an Arkansas native but Texan forever, Bible teacher, author, and the founder and visionary of IF:Gathering. A passionate leader following God’s call on her life to catalyze this generation to live what they believe, Jennie is the author of Restless, Anything, and her most recent book, Nothing to Prove. Her Bible studies include Stuck, Chase, Restless, and Proven. Jennie has a master's in biblical studies from Dallas Theological Seminary and lives in Dallas, Texas, with her husband and teammate, Zac, and their four children, Conner, Kate, Caroline, and Cooper.
Recognize your calling, find your place of service, and follow God to a life of purpose.
In her bestselling books Anything and Restless, Jennie Allen challenged women to fully surrender their lives to God and then offered a process to uncover and understand the raw materials He had given them to use for His glory and purposes. Now, for the first time ever, those two concepts have been combined to create a forty-day journey for women to pursue God and find the deepest yearnings of their heart fulfilled.
This step-by-step process, to fully surrender to God and then identify the threads of gifts, passions, places, relationships, and sufferings in your life, is not to get what you want but to find what God wants of you. The journal-like edition includes
- a new introduction and perspective from Jennie
- stories and testimonies from women whose lives have been changed by the process
- and the workbook graphics to determine the individual threads and how to weave them together
Divided into forty days, Made for This will help readers not only follow their dreams but also be able to answer life’s ultimate question: Why am I here?
A Deep Dive that's somehow also easy to digest In the beginning of this book, Jennie tells the reader that this devotional is a mashup of the ideas that are in her books "Anything" and "Restless". When I read that part, I was very excited. "Restless" was extremely meaningful for me so I was glad to dive back in.This devotional is great. It's definitely short enough to use as a daily devotional and easy to digest. But then the questions are very deep and full of impact. I think that one of Jennie Allen's super powers is asking good questions! It's one of my favorite things about all of the things I've read from her. She has a way of catalyzing ideas and asking us the pointed questions that don't let us get away from good, hard truths. One of the things that I love about it is that she doesn't tell you what your purpose is. What she does however is help you navigate the larger picture of God's purposes for the world and then have you evaluate the ways your life is uniquely designed to take part in that big picture. Some purpose books feel like they're a bit long on self-examination and then extreme motivation. Jennie's approach is quite different and it resonates for me much better.I've been skimming the book that I received for free in exchange for an honest review. I am excited to actually use it as a resource for spiritual growth over this spring. It's a great tool.My favorite book, ever! Oh wow! This book, will change your life, filled with scripture and deep soul searching questions. This life is about so much more than we can visibly see. (See beyond the visible 2 Cor. 4:18 is phrase that was laid on my heart this year.) The words on each page got inside my heart and captivated my mind! I have felt "restless" for awhile mixed with fear and insecurities. This book wants me looking beyond myself and see with God's vision. It's all about eternity, y'all! This book couldn't have arrived at a better time. Are you ready to go on an adventure with God? You tired of your own fear getting in your way? Jennie, this is my favorite book so far! Thank you for stepping outside your comfort zone and into our lives and sharing a love for Jesus and sparking a generation to make disciples for His glory. There is so much more I could say, but I don't want to spoil "anything." So, if you're ready for an adventure, grab this book and "risk" your journey to and with an amazing Savior.More than a devotional I’ve read tons of devotionals over the years, this by far is my favorite! Jennie is so authentic and gut level honest about her life, experiences, thoughts and feelings especially in this book! What I love the most is at the end of every day there are questions to dig deeper very similar to a mini Bible Study and suggested scripture reading. I walked away from each daily reading feeling like I had not only learned but also had experienced Jesus. I cannot recommend this book or Jennie enough! Her teaching has changed me so much and I believe this book will change many others lives as well!
